The Technoport crowd invested €67,000 in four local startups as Technoport's Live Crowdfunding Experience returned to Trondheim last night. The kick-off of the equity crowdfunding campaigns for Vepak, Telemotix, Kybernesis and Hubro Education was the centrepiece of a night of live entertainment, food, drink and fun.
Wood-bagging company Vepak raised the most money on the night itself thanks in part to the confidence shown by the panel of judges, but the real winners wont be known for another 44 days when the equity crowdfunding campaigns close. For their performance on the night, Vepak were awarded a travel grant from Innovation Norway to explore foreign markets.
Ole Holtet from Vepak was thrilled with the experience:
"It was great! I was nervous beforehand because of the expectations, but we now have over 20 investors who will be ambassadors for our company. We would never have reached them by calling or emailing, so this has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As a startup it can be hard to go to professional investors because we are not experienced at pitching, but in this environment we were able to pitch from our hearts. The result was people invested with their hearts aswell as their wallets."
Host Dale Murray thoroughly enjoyed the event:
“It was fantastic. I thought the atmosphere was amazing and the quality of the pitches was terrific. Especially good was the enormous amount of support for the entrepreneurs themselves. That sort of support and encouragement is exactly what these young entrepreneurs need."
In addition to the crowdfunding, the audience was treated to live performances from the Fjords and Ida Jenshus.
