Finland's Wärtsilä is the latest company to realise the benefits of working with startups.
Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Wärtsilä is a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets, with over 17,500 employees across the world. They have a history of emphasising technological innovation in their solutions, and now they are looking to the startup community for further inspiration.
A statement from the company says they are looking for a "marine mastermind". As Trondheim has such a strong heritage in marine technology, we thought they might find just what they're looking for within the Technoport crowd!
"Wärtsilä is looking for an intelligence force with the next big idea in marine solutions. We are living in the age of disruptive innovations. This applies to the marine business which is going through a big transformation. Start-up companies play a vital role in providing new digital opportunities for service business and in building positive growth and value that benefits our customers."
"We are looking for disruptive digital initiatives and unique services offering and product ideas for digital transformation of marine industry."
In addition to senior Wärtsilä figures, the jury features experts from across the marine industry including Paolo Tonon, VP & Head of Maersk Maritime Technology, and Craig Eason, Deputy editor of Lloyd's List.
The overall objective of the contest is to bring the winning idea to reality together with Wärtsilä. The winner will receive a business development package worth €50,000 (approximately NOK 470,000).
The competition is launched as part of the Slush startup conference in Helsinki, and you have until the end of the year to submit your idea.
