Dirk Ahlborn started his career in 1993 as an investment specialist in Germany. After moving to Italy in 1997 he founded several companies in the alternative energy and interior design space. Since 2009 he is a part of the Girvan Institute of Technology a non-profit business incubator for start-up tech companies funded by NASA.
He co-founded and become CEO of Jumpstarter in 2013, a company which provide crowdsourcing technology. He is also the CEO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies Inc, a project initiated by Elon Musk and incubated using JumpstartFund's crowd collaboration process, which is developing a high speed, intercity transporter using a low pressure tube train which would reach a top speed of 800 miles per hour (1,300 km/h) with a yearly capacity of 15 million passengers.
