Tommy has been working as a lawyer for close to 20 years, specializing in strategic use and commercialization of intellectual property rights (IPR) and venture creation.
Through actively participating the research- and development community in Norway, and being involved in numerous technology startups since the late 90’s, Tommy has gained considerable insights into what makes or breaks a technology based venture on it´s way from inception to commercial success (or failure). For his active involvement in building the startup-scene in Trondheim, Tommy was in 2015 awarded the ”Technoport Community Builder of the Year”.
He has over the years also served as a legal advisor to several national and international seed- and venture capital players in processes related to investments in technology and knowledge-based companies.
In 2015, Tommy co-founded the angel-investment company Patchbox AS together with Tom Arnøy (CEO of Zedge), through which they actively contribute in the structuring and growth of technology-based startups, primarily within the software/mobile space.
In addition he holds a position as an Assistant Professor at NTNU School of Entrepreneurship and serves as the Director of the Intellectual Property Institute of Norway (IPiN).
